Why inspiration wears off

Hello Reader,

Yesterday I spent the day with a couple of friends hanging out at a coffee shop planning, talking, dreaming, sharing. It was just lovely.

We’ve been planning some local events, and it’s been genuinely fun to network in person again. There’s something different about creating spaces where people can gather without a screen between them.

Not that I don’t love all of you, but hugging actual humans is something I’ve missed after years of working from home and running an online business.

One conversation kept circling back, though.

There are so many local entrepreneurs with real, hard-earned knowledge. Deep experience. Smart ideas. And they have no idea how to share it in a way that actually helps people.

We started talking about workshops and pooling our skills. Then someone mentioned a similar group where she used to live. They tried workshops too. It fizzled out in less than a year.

After doing a bit more digging, it was clear that they were giving information out like candy. Sweet. Generous. Easy to consume. And not very nourishing. Information alone feels helpful, but it rarely sticks.

The same thing applies to your business. The hill I’m going to thrive on (cause I don’t want to die just yet) is that teaching has to include practice.

If reading inspirational quotes changed lives, we’d all be floating around fully healed and wildly successful by now. I enjoy a good quote as much as the next person, but it doesn’t change how I act tomorrow morning.

What actually helps is practice. Small, repeatable actions. Structures that support new habits. Space to work through the blocks that keep showing up no matter how motivated we feel.

That’s true for learning. And it’s true for business.

This is exactly what I spend time on in my Clarity Sessions.

Not fixing anyone. Not handing over another pile of ideas. But slowing things down enough to look at what you already know, what you’re trying to teach, and where people are actually getting stuck.

We talk through how your knowledge can turn into something people can use. Where practice belongs. What’s missing. And what doesn’t need to be there at all.

So I’ll leave you with this question...

What are you doing to help your people build habits and move through the blocks that keep them stuck?

And if you want help thinking that through, you know where to find me.

Sarah

PS. Side note, in case this is new to you: I’m part of the Year of the Bot Bundle, a free collection of AI tools designed to help get ideas out of your head and onto something you can actually work with. I use AI less as a machine that tells me what to do and more as a mirror for my thinking. This bundle is built around that same idea. It’s available until Feb. 15, 2026, if it feels supportive right now.

WEBSITE · COURSE HUB · FREE GUIDE Hello Reader, Did you realize the promises on your sales page can keep helping your people long after they click buy? THIS WEEK KEEP THE PROMISE IN FRONT OF THEM What annoys me when I see people talking about creating courses is the big long checklist: write your sales page, write your email sequence, do all the marketing, decide whether to run ads, plan the webinars leading up to the launch, and somewhere in there, creating the course is one step. I've spent...

WEBSITE · COURSE HUB · FREE GUIDE Hello Reader, Do you journal, or occasionally go back through old emails or texts? I journal more regularly now than I used to, and it's interesting to go back and see how differently I thought. THIS WEEK GIVE IT A SECOND LOOK When I look back at the things I was really worried about or obsessing over, they seem so unimportant now. Or I think, "Oh, if only young me could have had this little bit of information, it would have been better." You can do the same...

Hi Reader, A while back I had an idea for something I wanted to make, and I got pretty far into it. And the thought of tossing all that work made me keep going way longer than I should. But every time I looked at it, it didn't feel helpful enough or full enough or whatever enough I was going for, so I kept adding to it, another section, another example, another piece that was supposed to finally make it work. It never did. What I eventually figured out was that I'd trapped myself with the...
